Kona Grown SL34
  • Kona Grown SL34

    Tasting notes from the roast:
"Landed on maybe the best profile I've tasted, super exciting...
Tropical fruit, crisp/intense/vibrant acidity up-front with notes of kiwi, blueberry, and lime throughout the experience."

    About SL34
SL34 is a variety of coffee from the Loresho Estate in Kabete, Kenya, making this Arabica coffee famously associated with the fine coffees of Kenya. This is 100% Kona grown SL34. Grown, processed, and shipped directly from our small family farm to Chicago, IL.

    About our process:
In a microclimate like no other, our Kona coffee cherries grow on the volcanic slopes of Hualalai at around 1,800 ft. in elevation. Using natural fertilizers, we care for our coffee trees without the use of harsh chemicals or toxic sprays.

We hand-pick each bright red cherry at harvest and process using the wet method. After we pulp our SL34 coffee fruit, we process it using a wine yeast-fermentation (with no additional water added to the tank) prior to washing.

Raked by hand three times a day for two to three weeks, our Kona coffee beans dry with consistency under Kona's warm morning sun.

100% KONA Coffee: We grow, pick, and (with the help of our neighbors) process our coffee from our family farm in Holualoa, Hawaii. We ship our green, whole bean Kona coffee directly to our ohana in Chicago, where we roast it fresh in small batches for the mainland.
